Martha Ann Hill
February 15, 1826 - April 13, 1897

Father - Jonas Hill
Mother - Mary Barnes

Martha Ann Hill was born in Henderson County, Tennessee. Arkansas biographies has the following information concerning E.J. Stobaugh: "In 1867 he married Miss mary Williams, a native of Arkansas and a daughter of Leroy and Martha A. (Hill) Williams, who were natives of Franklin County, Tennessee but in about 1844 they removed to Conway County, but afterwards resided a few years in Van Buren County, then returned to Conway County, where Mr. Williams died, prior to the war. Mrs. Williams married Mr. Bumpus Brinkley and now resides in Franklin County."

Some researchers have stated that Martha Ann was born in Winchester, Franklin County, Tennessee. Whichever it was, we know nothing about life up until her marriage to Aaron Leroy P. Williams, who was born 1822 in Tennessee. The marriage took place March 9, 1843 in Winchester, in Franklin County. Seven known children were born to Martha and Leroy, 3 sons and 4 daughters.

As stated in the bio, She married Bumpass Brinkley after Leroy's death; this occurred August 28, 1859 in Union Township, Conway County, Arkansas. It appears, if one looks at the census records and children's birth records, that they spent most of their life in Conway County. They probably came to Oklahoma in about 1890; just where is not certain but it may have been LeFlore COunty. Martha died in Oklahoma and is buried at the San Bois Cemetery, near Kinta. Her stone can be seen each time the family goes to decorate the graves.

Unfortunately, there is no known picture of her.
