Martha Ann Brinkley

August 17, 1865 - August 23, 1949

Father - Bumpas B. Brinkley
Mother - Martha Ann Hill (Williams)

Martha Brinkley was born in Conway County, Arkansas. She was the 5th child of Bumpass and Martha.

She is found in the 1880 census for Union, Conway Arkansas, with her parents. Information as follows:

Bunpas (misspelling) Brinkley     head     age 38
Martha A. Brinkley                   wife      age 54
Martha A. Brinkley                   dau       age 15
            William Brinkley                        son       age 13
          Bumpus Brinkley                      son       age 9

Martha married George Calvin Honeycutt on July 8, 1880 at Springfield, Conway County Arkansas. Martha and George had 13 children, not all of whom survived. Martha also raised George’s daughter from his previous marriage, Martha Ann, whose mother had died. They lived in Arkansas until about 1892, then moved to Spiro, Indian Territory. About 1902 they made their final move and settled down on a farm about 6 miles south of Stigler.

After the death of George Calvin in 1930 it appears that her daughter Lucy and son-in-law moved in with her. She is pictured at right in 1939. Martha was in very bad health in her later years and could hardly get around. She passed away at her house near Lafayette in Haskell County, Okla-homa; she is buried at San Bois Cemetery, Kinta, Oklahoma.
