The genealogy and research of the Honeycutt clan has become one of the most important hobbies in my life. There is a very satisfying feeling in talking to lots of people, in person, by letter and by phone and putting together bits and pieces of information, like the pieces of a puzzle. Sometimes there are pleasant surprises, such as the time I found a website with information about Grandpa Sandlin. It is always a satisfying feeling when no one can tell you anything about an ancestor; there just isn’t anything. Then, after months of research and digging, that same person’s parents, and grandparents are discovered, as well as places where they lived and came from. It is exciting to keep adding to an ancestors family tree; we can realize more about what we are now when we know where we came from.
The story begins with Kirby and Lettie Honeycutt, just two seemingly ordinary people struggling to make something of their lives. This is the story of their hardships, their heartbreaks and also their happy times. Their children were all special and unique, each in their own way; all were interesting. Now there are grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well. But before Kirby and Lettie, the story starts and continues in places such as Ireland, England, Georgia, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas and maybe some as yet undiscovered places.
This site is under construction and will be added to from time to time. There will be a section on the Sandlin family, as well as the Hunnicutt/Honeycutt family. Much of the information was obtained from other researchers and family members. Where possible, I will include a source. There will be current information about the family, such as births, deaths and upcoming family reunions. More to come!
