George Honeycutt was born in Rock Springs, Walker County, Georgia. We know little about his early life; He was the 5th child born to Josiah and Elizabeth. The family moved to Arkansas about 1863, settling in Conway County. Josiah was a farmer there.
For an unknown reason, before 1880 there had been a change in the spelling of the last name.
On November 15, 1878 at Lick Mountain, Arkansas...George married Tennessee McCoy. They had one daughter, Martha Ann. Apparently Tennesee McCoy-Honeycutt died right about this time.
George Calvin Honeycutt is found in the 1880 census for Lick Mountain, Conway Arkansas working for G.L. Harwood, a farmer. His wife, Tennessee had already died and his marriage to Martha Brinkley was coming up. Information as follows:
George Honeycutt - age 23 b. 1857, Mississippi (note: Incorrect)
Occupation: works on farm
Marriage: N/I
Father's Birthplace - Tennesse
Mother's Birthplace - Georgia
Also in the same census was Margaret McCoy, age 24, listed as a cousin and John Honeycutt, farm worker, age 17.
George and Martha Ann Brinkley were married July 8, 1880 at Springfield, Conway County, Arkansas. They lived at Conway, Arkansas until about 1892; then moved to a valley on Indian land, southwest of Lafayette Community near Stigler, consisting of about 200 acres and began farming it. He gave food and supplies to the Indians in exchange for rent. It is assumed that the land became his when Oklahoma became a state in 1907. He was also a preacher.
George died at Center Township and is buried at San Bois Cemetery near Kinta, Oklahoma.
